Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella
This is a very simple appetizer or finger food. It consists of only 3 ingredients and requires zero cooking. The only tricky part is finding the ingredients!

These came about while thinking about parties and entertaining. These would be great as a minimalist's appetizer. They would also look lovely spread on a tray, where they could be passed around or set at a table, while people graze around it. They do not really need anything to hold them together, but you may add a toothpick to each one, should you serve them at a party. This helps keep distance between food and ... fingers.

Note: I've used Ciliegine (cherry sized) balls of mozzarella, but you could use larger ones (bocconcini) . if you can't find the proper size of fresh mozzarella, you can always buy a nice sized log or ball and cut cubes. That would look just as nice!

  1. Cut each slice of prosciutto to about 1 inch wide (about the width of a ball of mozzarella).
  2. Lay down your cut strips of prosciutto, side-by-side.
  3. Place a basil leave at the end of each strip.
  4. Place a mozzarella ball on top of each basil leaf.
  5. Dust the mozzarella with a little salt and pepper.
  6. Roll into the prosciutto.
  7. Serve!

Belle, just be sure to freeze them up before frying ... otherwise you might run into a big melty mess. Outside of that, though ... I LOVE the way you think! :)

This made me think that regular bacon wrapped around mozzarella sticks then deep fried would be a good appetizer too. No flour or corn meal means low carb:0)

Sharon, I have no idea why people do what they do or say what they say. All I do is try and respond, in kind. Hi Unknown ... call it whatever you want ... not everyone would combine these ingredients. There's an award winning cookbook series by Rozanne Gold that revolves completely around the idea of 3 ingredient recipes ... or "snacks" as you'd put it. Ultimately, the idea is to share information and present ideas people may not have thought of ... or even just to remind them. People tend to like fast, quick and easy ... with fewer ingredients. Ultimately, this idea will please a lot of people. I'm sorry you're not one of them.
